"Paul did a brilliant job on our gutters and fascias. Polite, on time and the place looks brand new. Highly recommend."
Pressure washing for driveways, patios and paths
Flags, block paving and stone setts pick up algae fast in a damp valley climate. A proper wash makes a surface safe to walk on again and takes years off the look of a property.
What the job involves
I use a rotary surface cleaner for open areas, which gives an even finish without the stripes you get from waving a lance about, then detail the edges, steps and awkward corners by hand. Pressure is matched to the surface, so Indian sandstone and older flags are treated far more gently than concrete block paving.
Block paving is re-sanded with kiln dried sand after washing so the blocks stay locked together. If you want the surface sealing afterwards, tell me at quote stage and I will leave the drying time in the plan.
Steps, thresholds and shaded north facing paths are usually the slippiest part of a property and the part people ask about after a fall. Those get particular attention.
The benefits of pressure washing
Safer, slip free surfaces
Algae and lichen are what make paths dangerous in wet weather, not the stone itself.
Instant kerb appeal
A washed driveway changes the look of a house more than almost any other outdoor job.
Right pressure for the surface
Softer settings for sandstone and older flags, full power only where it is safe.
Tidied and re-sanded
Block paving is re-sanded and the site is swept and rinsed before I leave.

Pressure Washing FAQs
Will it damage my flags? +
Not if the pressure is matched to the material. I test a small area first on anything soft or old.
Do you need access to an outside tap? +
Yes. I only need access to a water supply for the pressure washer.
Can you remove oil stains? +
Often, but not always. Old oil that has soaked into concrete may lighten rather than disappear entirely, and I will say so honestly.
How long does a driveway take? +
A typical drive takes half a day. Larger drives with heavy weed growth can take a full day.
